Midnight
We are so excited to have added Midnight to our suri breeding
program. Midnight is a gorgeous true black 3/4 Peruvian, 1/4 Bolivian suri
alpaca. We searched and searched for our first suri herd sire, and when we
found Midnight, we knew we found what we were looking for!
First of all, Midnight himself has incredible true black fiber. It is very silky and lusterous, and, boy, is there a lot of it! He has coverage of long black locks from his face all the way to his toes! He has excellent conformation, straight legs, a typey suri head and a stocky, strong build.
Midnight also comes from award winning and pure suri bloodlines.
He is a fourth generation suri on his dam's side. And although his sire
was a Peruvian import, he has sired close to 100 suri crias in this country.
Midnight's father, the famous Peruvian Angel, has produced many
award winning sand outstanding suri cria. Some can be seen at Peruvian
Angel's home, Bluff Breeze, site by clicking

addition to Midnight, other outstanding Angel offspring include Odessa, the
highest selling black female at the 2004 Private Collection Auction ($46,000),
Angel's Delight owned by Park View Alpacas, Aerel owned by Simply Suri, Latitia
owned by Park View, Papillon owned by Libert Hill and Meadowgate Farm Alpacas
and Azalea owned by Park View, winner of 2002 AOBA Produce of Dam, 2003 Odyssey
Produce of Dam, and 2003 AOBA Produce of Dam.
Angel's $3,000 breeding fee included a color
guarantee. Midnight, obviously, was not a disappointment! Peruvian
Angel has produced 87 colored suri cria, many times being bred to a white
dam. Midnight's dam, Miss Aca, also has a good track record for producing
quality suris of color. She has five crias so far. All five of them
have been suris and four of the five of them have been of color. Based on
his parents' track records, we are expecting Midnight to give us many colorful
cria!
When we first were interested in suri alpacas, we quickly learned that suris did not have the reputation of being calm and gentle as huacayas do. Many people consider suris to be more high strung and easily agitated. Being huacaya owners for more than seven years, we did not want our relaxed barn filled with easy-going huacayas to be compromised. We knew we wanted a suri herd sire with a calm, friendly disposition. Again, Midnight fit our bill. He is a wonderfully outgoing guy with an amicable, almost affectionate personality. We love having him here at Ideuma Creek!
Midnight's first crias will be born both here and in Minnesota in the spring of 2005. Look back to see his first babies here at Ideuma Creek in May!
